Our Guiding Principles:

  1. Making science accessible by helping educators understand SK science curricula.

  2. Providing opportunities for SK educators to connect, network and collaborate with one another focusing on best practices in STEM.

  3. Supporting educators in recognizing the interconnectedness of Indigenous and western science.

  1. Hello

My name is John Munro. I was hoping to find a way of better connecting the science leaders in each province and to keep each other updated on what is going on in the country and also internationally. I am President of BC Science Teachers’ Association and also Director for Canada with National Science Teaching Association. Some ways that I thought we could consider beginning a conversation are:

    -Communicating about conferences
    -Updating in curriculum revisions
-Advocacy around science education and safety
-Sharing speaker/presenter information related to good professional development
-Learning from each other around things like inquiry based learning, assessment strategies, professional issues
-Indigenous education and how to effectively infuse this into our classrooms
    -Issues around equity and inclusion
    -Identifying good resources
-Considering ways that NSTA might be able to be a partner and support for Provincial And Territorial science organizations

I probably have more. But it begins with getting contact information which I’m still gathering and then getting the group together on Zoom to get the conversation going.

Please let me know if you have contacts for any other science leaders who are well positioned to share our discussions with teachers in their province or territory
