Computer Science PD @ U of S in June!

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Saskatchewan is offering a one-day teacher’s workshop for Saskatchewan high school computer science teachers.

From our department’s perspective, a strong CS curriculum in high school is more important than ever: starting this past September, we designated high school CS 30 as a pre-requisite for direct entry into our stream for Computer Science majors, which traditionally had not been the case.

Novice or first-time computer science teachers are particularly welcome, as are teachers/administrators from schools that do not currently offer CS 30 but might consider doing so in the near future.  We also welcome more experienced CS teachers, who we hope will be willing to share their experiences with implementing the new provincial CS curriculum.

We have money for this (generously provided by Google and their CS4HS program), and we can cover travel expenses for out-of-town teachers, and possibly even substitute teaching costs.
