The Department of Computer Science at the University of Saskatchewan combined with the SaskTech industry group is offering a 4-day summer event for Saskatchewan high school CS teachers, from August 15th to 18th.
The event is split between a Tech Tour (Aug. 15-16) of multiple local tech companies and a Teaching Workshop (Aug. 17-18) held at the University of Saskatchewan campus. The Teaching Workshop will focus on the implementation of the new provincial CS 20/30 curriculum, with sessions led and developed by the veteran CS teachers who helped create that curriculum. Teachers are invited to attend either the Tech Tour or the Teaching Workshop or both as their schedules permit.
A strong CS curriculum in high school is important to the University of Saskatchewan. We now require CS 30 as a pre-requisite for direct entry into the Computer Science major.
Novice or first-time computer science teachers are particularly welcome, as are teachers/administrators from schools that do not currently offer CS 30 but might consider doing so in the near future.
We have money for this (generously provided by Google and their CS4HS program). We will fully cover travel and overnight accommodation expenses for teachers from outside Saskatoon. Lunch will be provided for all participants for all 4 days.

Teachers are also invited to access the online course and resource site hosted by the USask Computer Science Department. This course is provided as a “community of practice” to allow teachers to connect and hone their computer science skills year-round and at their own pace.
