Schrödinger’s Class – PD Science and Tech Teachers – University of Waterloo

Looks like an amazing opportunity for science educators!

Details below! No registration fee, transportation and accommodations are covered.

Join us for three days at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) for the fifth Schrödinger’s Class teachers’ workshop on quantum mechanics. You will have the opportunity to attend lectures and engage in hands-on activities focused on the integration of quantum technology into the current teaching curriculum. We will discuss quantum information science and technology to give you a deeper understanding of quantum mechanics. You will discover how harnessing remarkable quantum phenomena is not only transforming the way we compute and communicate today, but how it will change the technological landscape of tomorrow.

Application Deadline: October 4th 2019

The workshop will run November 22-24 2019

The workshop is open to any Canadian science and technology teacher, with a focus on physics and chemistry. There is no registration fee, and costs of transportation, accommodation, and meals are covered.

Meet a Scientist – Learn the Research – Participate in an Experiment – Connect to Curriculum

Connect classroom science with scientific research! This workshop is an opportunity for science educators to learn more about current Canadian scientific research with hands-on activities at one of Canada’s biggest research facilities. Each year we open our doors to the nation’s science teachers, providing them the unique opportunity to:

  • Participate in synchrotron experiments
  • Learn about novel research in many disciplines
  • Network with scientists who share their experiences and enthusiasm for science
  • Explore the entire facility
  • Make connections to science curriculum

CLS provides an exciting, real-life context for many of the outcomes expected in the science classroom.

The Teachers’ Workshop also provides the necessary training for your students to be able to participate in the award winning Students on the Beamlines program.
