Facilitator Opportunity for Professional Growth Network members through the University of Saskatchewan
In an effort to promote the expertise of PGN members, the Federation would like to bring to your attention the following opportunity to serve as a facilitator to students at the University of Saskatchewan through their Education Learning Communities.
The aim of Education Learning Communities is to welcome and engage students who are working primarily on external course work into the College of Education, and to infuse the College of Education with the strength of new ideas and fresh perspectives. Because the teaching profession is guided by the “lived curriculum” of those it serves, learning communities seek to create flexible and supportive spaces that involve students in the life of the College, help them to recognize their own needs, activate their strengths, and build a sense of belonging among Education students within the broader university community.
The Education Learning Communities are unique in that they are offered in each term and in both Years 1 and 2, resulting in four courses: EDLC 101, EDLC 102, EDLC 201 and EDLC 202. In order to accommodate the schedules of upper year Education students (Years 3 and 4), the learning communities take place Mondays 4:00 to 4:50 p.m., Thursdays 4:00 to 4:50 p.m. and Fridays 12:30 to 1:20 p.m.
Each level of learning community follows a “curriculum”, arranged to begin with self and broadening to the global community:
EDLC 101 – Community on Campus
EDLC 102 – Community in the City
EDLC 201 – Discovering Saskatchewan
EDLC 202 – Global Community
