Attached you will find an informational one-page document on the upcoming STEAM event as part of the weeklong celebration that is the Canada-Wide Science Fair. This years’ CWSF is being held May 14-20th, 2017, at the University of Regina, in the Centre for Kinesiology, Health, and Sport (CKHS) Building.
Please keep in mind that registration for STEAM 2017 OPENS on the Monday that you get back from Winter Break (Monday, February 27th, 2017). Registration is also electronic and is hosted by Agriculture in the Classroom. Registration CLOSES on Friday, March 24th. Space is limited! It is also FREE to attend for students and their adult chaperones! This event is for students Grades 5 and up. For staff members this event is an excellent PD opportunity to see the latest and greatest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics within a single venue.
I would STRONGLY recommend attendance for all PVSD students and staff to this event. The opportunity to see national-calibre, inquiry and project-based science only comes around every so often! (The last time it was in Saskatchewan was almost 20 years ago). As one of the chairs of the STEAM event, I can honestly say that the displays and opportunities that are available to students and staff alike, will be nothing short of spectacular! At present the display booth space available is very quickly being booked up, and many other events, presentations, and engaging pieces are continuing to fall into place.
